・あきらめずに戰う

という意味で使われます。

Well, she may have fought hard for it, but she didn't get it.
（う〜ん、彼女はかなり頑張ったのだろうけど、でも、それをゲットできなかったわ。）

Ouch!
（あちゃ〜。）

When you fight tooth and nail, you fight hard.
（「fight tooth and nail」の意味は、必死に戰うことです。）

You try your best to win and don't give up.
（勝つためにベストを盡くし、あきらめません。）

Animals in the wild use their teeth and nails when they fight.
（野生の動物は戰うときに齒と爪を使います。）

When using this idiom though, make sure and keep it singular.
（このイディオムを使うときは、單數形で使ってください。）

We don't say "to fight teeth and nails."
（"fight teeth and nails" とは言いません。）
