安永9年（1780年）徳島藩主が、九州から職人を雇い入れて、磁器の生産を開始し、短期で閉窯しました。その後、天明4年（1784年）に信樂の職人を指導者として招き、甕や雜器を作る技術を地元の人々に修得させたことが始まりとされています。現在では大甕から美術工藝品まで、樣々な製品を生産しています。

In 1780, the Tokushima feudal lord hired craftsmen from Kyushu to begin porcelain production, and the kiln was closed for a short period of time. Later, in 1784, craftsmen from Shigaraki were invited as instructors and local people were trained in the techniques of making jars and various type of tableware. Today, the kiln produces a wide variety of products, from large jars to arts and crafts.
