三條地方は「佛都三條」といわれる土地柄。江戸時代の元祿３年建立の東本願寺別院造營に參加した職人によって佛壇の製造が始められたといわれている。優れた錺金具製造技術には定評がある。

At the end of 17th century, local craftsmen were greatly influenced by those from kyoto who were invited on the occasion of the construction of a temple. Later, when this temple played a leading role in promulgating the teachings of Buddhism, the manufacture of butsudan began. Their techniques of fabricating metal fittings are highly praised.
