15世紀、茶道とともに奈良で生まれた茶筌は、この地に製造技術が確立し、祕傳として傳承される。淡竹、黒竹、煤竹の強い纖維を利用し、小刀で竹を細かく（60～200本）裂いて穗先を作る。全國の茶筌の9割以上を生産してる。

In the 15th century, the production of chasen began with the development of the tea ceremony in Nara. Made of bamboo, the upper part splits into 80 to 200 fine splines. This region produces 90% of chasen in Japan.
