平安京の南を護る「方除（ほうよけ）」の社。都の入口を見守る守護神として古くから信仰されてきました。
境内では約150本のしだれ梅と、數百本の椿が咲きそろう「しだれ梅と椿まつり」が開かれ、白や薄紅の花と苔、落ち椿が織りなす景觀がとても美しい‼︎

Guarding the southern edge of ancient Kyoto, Jonan-gu Shrine is revered for protection from misfortune and directional calamities.Each early spring, around 150 weeping plum trees and hundreds of camellias bloom in the garden “Harunoyama,” creating one of Kyoto’s most celebrated plum views, where soft pink blossoms, deep-red fallen camellias, and green moss form a living painting.During the “Weeping Plum and Camellia Festival,” shrine maidens perform a graceful ritual dance holding plum branches, welcoming the new season in a scene that feels quietly cinematic.
