Today was Sarah’s very first Japanese Junior High School Sports Festival — known in Japan as 體育祭 (Taikusai) 🎌

And honestly?

It felt less like a normal school event…
and more like watching a live-action anime tournament 👀⚡

The second we arrived, the energy was INSANE.

Seven giant teams.
Different team colors.
Huge banners waving everywhere.
Students screaming chants at the top of their lungs.
Parents lining the sidelines like it was the Olympics 😭

Sarah already thought her Orange Team was doomed before the games even started…

“Expectation? Losing everything.” 💀🟠

But then came the first event:
A giant tug-of-war with ropes so massive they looked like fire hoses 😳

And somehow…
her team WON. TWICE. 🔥

Then the relay races started.

Boys and girls sprinting together while the entire school exploded with cheering 🎽⚡

One dropped baton?
Your WHOLE team suffers 😭

But the craziest event had to be the giant ball toss.

Hundreds of students throwing balls into giant baskets as fast as possible with NO backboard 🏀💀

One ball literally balanced on the rim forever…

…and then rolled out 😭

And just when you think Japanese Sports Day is only about sports…

suddenly the teams start doing synchronized chants, giant drum performances, coordinated routines, and military-level formations for STYLE POINTS 😭🇯🇵

Only in Japan 😂

By the end of the day Sarah’s team still finished dead last…

But honestly?

Watching everyone scream, laugh, compete, and fight for their teams all day felt like something straight out of an anime 🎌✨
