★ポルシェ ボクスター(986)に關して
1996年、初代986シリーズが登場。
名前の由來は水平對向エンジンを表す「ボクサー」（Boxer）と、オープンカーを表す「ロードスター」（Roadster）を掛け合わせた造語である。

リアトランクの後ろには電動式リアスポイラーが裝備され、120km/h以上で立ち上がり空氣抵抗を4%、リアアクスルのリフトを31%低減している。
またスポイラーは80km/h以下で格納されるが、スイッチでの手動操作も可能である。

プラスチック製のアンダーボディパネルは空氣抵抗を10%低減し、リアのリフトを33%も減らす働きをしている。

驅動方式はMR、ミッドシップに搭載される可變バルブタイミング機構バリオカムを裝備した、水冷水平對向6氣筒DOHC24バルブエンジンは、2480ccの排氣量から、最高出力204ps(150kW)/6000rpm、最大トルク25.0kg・m(245.2N・m)/4500rpmを發揮した。
